The outcome is that you receive a metric fuckton of bad code, at a codebase that is decades old, scripted in an intermediate language (runescript) which OSRS gold is subsequently interpreted and ran by an already translated language (coffee ), and managed by a handful of actual Java developers. To be honest, with C++ they'd have to redo their entire code base and write everything again, which would hopefully alleviate the first matter. I doubt they'd use some program that is dodgy to translate the Java code to C++ without reviewing it? Right?


I would envision a RuneScript interpreter may be more responsive if composed in. It might help although it does resolve the problem. The ability to scale into multiple threads effectively would also help. I doubt these RS servers are operating on i9 9900Ks, but likely rather Xeon or Epyc systems with reduced clock speeds and tons of cores, and they simply just run several worlds on a single server. If every server execution scaled better, they would make better use of their hardware. Nevertheless, fantastic luck making the RuneScript interpreter multithreaded.


Switching to C++ wo make you write efficient code, if you are writing code that is inefficient in Java. It is extremely rare that the language there is a tool written in is the most significant cause of downturn. Frankly, IME, most of the"speedup" jobs get from shifting languages is simply from the lazerfocus introduced by the rewrite. This results in all those"why is that written like this?" Questions being followed-up on since it needs to be rewritten anyway, why not fix it. All of this entirely ignores. I can only imagine the quantity of dev-hours consumed (and the disappearance of players as the already dwindling update listing perishes completely).


I would imagine that requires more cpu. For example: even if isn't a single person on Anachronia, dinosaurs and those dinosaurs are still moving around. This along with other upgrades that also need additional cpu use, like keeping track of vents, farm animals, study groups, the growing list of buffs/debuffs which each active player could possess, etc.. Real upgrades are going to boost the cpu usage of this server but they don't upgrade the servers unless completely necessary.


I'm not certain if anybody knows the answer or not, but I am interested RS servers work in reaction. Do things continue when nobody is there, occurring? For example, in Slime Rancher, the map has been divided into like 5 or 6 main areas. When you're not in that area, RuneScape stops playing animations. Your robots quit functioning. But then when you teleport after having been there for two days, you get the funds out of your robots as if they'd been running for 2 days, even when they were not actually moving. Like, even if you AFK at a map with robots, you'll periodically see your cash go up a bit as they sell things, but if you travel to some other area of cheap RuneScape Mobile gold, you'll find a huge chunk of cash that's been collecting for awhile.
