NBA 2K21: What Can An Acceptable Current-Gen Version Look Like?
EA and 2K are in places. Both have annual sports titles coming out within a month or two on consoles. EA has Madden 21 coming out later this month for NBA 2K21 MT Coins and Xbox One later this month, and also what we assume will be a completely different, more innovative version coming for PS5 and Xbox Series X in November or December. EA has the exact same situation with FIFA 21.
Similarly, 2K has NBA 2K21 coming out the first week of September, with what figures to be a bigger and better version in its way to next-gen consoles. Afterall, the 2020 NBA Draft nor agency will not have happened by the time current-gen NBA 2K21 is published. The NBA season that was 2019-20 won't even be carried out.
Due to all these things, anyone expecting as big of an attempt as we normally see from an yearly 2K discharge is likely to be let down. All logic points into 2K saving most of its ammunition or all. That said, what does a suitable current-gen release look like for 2K? I've got a few ideas. As we've seen in the gameplay trailer that published the graphics will be almost identical, if not identical to NBA 2K20. Even though this could be a problem for some, I'm fine with this piece of stagnation.
There is two reasons: first, I believe we've already seen this creation of consoled pushed to their limit. It's not likely to get much better on PS4 and XB1. Secondly, it would be foolish to presume 2K would want to invest when they stand to benefit from delivering a version which will be hyped up because it looks in enhancing the item visually. 2K and every other producer of sports video games may need the difference between next-gen and present to be evident from a visual perspective. As a customer, I'm fine with that approach.
Soundtracks are cool and all, but quite frankly, in investing too much into this part of a game, I fight to find that the real value that is long-term. Nevertheless, we have seen the soundtrack which is going to be in the game, and depending upon your tastes, you're frustrated, either elated, or could care less about the songs included. I'm fine with what is coming on that front, and as far as comment, I can wait for the next-gen versions for a leap in this area. There are some really cool things that can be done in order to make what' commentary in the game even better.
Here is part of where EA and 2K should really bring the heat. I am not speaking about delivering ways. I am more referring to Buy 2K21 MT fleshing out ways that are present. For example, I stated that without a salary cap feature in MyTeam, I'm most likely not going to give that aspect of the game much of my period this past year. To a lesser degree, but comparable, the same could be said for a draft attribute. Madden, FIFA, MLB The Show, along with the NHL series have versions of this concept in their collector manners. 2K needs to bring this back.
