Domain Name Definition - What Are They?

DNS represents Domain Name System. A DNS server is in charge of informing all the computers on the Internet about your domain name and your internet site address. A domain name in its simplest form is simply an Internet Website address. Just as your house or apartment has its unique identifying address for the post office, so does each and every Website in existence.

The domain name system was originally made for the benefit of humans. The specific address used by computers is numerical in format and is called an IP, or Internet Protocol, address. An IP address takes the proper execution of four number of numbers separated by periods. An example of an IP address is 215.55.258.145, and as you can see this will not be simple for most of us to remember. So to compensate, the domain "name" system was created. It's much easier to consider a website named "XYZ.com" than it's to consider lots such as the one above real domain 2022.

Domains can be registered from domain name registration companies such as for instance dotdnr.com. These companies provide interfaces to find available domain names and they feature many different domain name extensions that can be registered at the same time. Domain Name Registration provides registration services for .com .net .org .biz .info .us .nu .ws .cc and .tv domains. Newer domain extensions such as .biz .info and .us do have more choices available as many of the popular domains have yet to be taken. While .com and .net domains are well established and recognized, hottest domains with one of these extensions happen to be registered.
