SAN FRANCISCO - When Jake Peavy joined the San Francisco Giants midseason, he brought an energy to the mound that added a new dimension to their rotation. Alcides Escobar Jersey .Now, the Giants are keeping a key member of their World Series championship team, bringing back Peavy with hopes of another October run.The right-hander agreed to a $24 million, two-year contract to stay with San Francisco, two people familiar with the negotiations said Friday. They spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because the deal had not yet been announced. Also on Friday night, the Giants completed a trade with the Miami Marlins to bring third baseman Casey McGehee to San Francisco. He will replace Pablo Sandoval, who signed last month with the Boston Red Sox.The 32-year-old McGehee won NL comeback player of the year honours after hitting .287 with 29 doubles, four home runs and 76 RBIs for Miami following a season with the Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japans Pacific League. The Giants sent minor league right-handers Kendry Flores and Luis Castillo to Miami. The Marlins acquired Martin Prado on Friday from the Yankees to become their likely third baseman, so they quickly struck a deal with the Giants. McGehee is from Santa Cruz and attended Fresno State.Peavy and right-hander Sergio Romo were undergoing physicals Friday in Arizona, and San Francisco wasnt expected to make a formal announcement until early next week. Romo is set to receive a $15 million, two-year contract.A three-time All-Star, Peavy provided a key lift and enthusiasm — not to mention fierce intensity — on the mound down the stretch as the wild-card Giants overcame their summer struggles.Giants ace Madison Bumgarner and Tim Hudson benefited from Peavys veteran presence. The three Southerners had a unique bond in their corner of the clubhouse. It is important, really a been-there-done-that kind of guy, pitching coach Dave Righetti said Friday of Peavy. Another Southern guy, just an outgoing personality. It always lifts somebodys spirits, during long seasons you need a little jolt of electricity here and there, especially baseball. Peavy brought that. The best part was he won when he got here. He was really getting after it. He was tired of losing to be quite honest and he felt he should be winning. He was an aggressive personality, which I think Bum likes.Peavy will receive a $4 million signing bonus, $7 million next season and $13 million in 2016. The deal includes a full no-trade provision and award bonuses.A 33-year-old right-hander, Peavy helped Boston win the 2013 World Series and was traded to San Francisco on July 26.After beginning 1-9 with Boston, Peavy went 6-4 with a 2.17 ERA in 12 starts for San Francisco. He went 1-2 in four post-season outings as the Giants won their third title in five years.Last week, San Francisco lost out in bidding for new Cubs left-hander Jon Lester after Sandoval left for the Red Sox, so bringing back Peavy is a key move by general manager Brian Sabean.Righetti enjoyed seeing how Peavy, Bumgarner and Hudson immediately clicked and fed off each others successes. You see that very rarely. In a sense this wasnt made at all, it kind of grew, Righetti said. These guys got the same makeup, a kinship. It doesnt work unless you win together. Its kind of neat how that played out and how they interact with each other. Theyre definitely unique personalities in their own right.Peavy would receive $100,000 each for NL MVP or World Series MVP, $75,000 for NL Championship Series MVP, $25,000 for All-Star selection, $50,000 for a Gold Glove or Silver Slugger award and $250,000 for winning the Cy Young Award. There are also bonuses for finishing in the top five in Cy Young voting.A 31-year-old right-hander, Romo has spent all seven of his big league seasons with San Francisco, helping the Giants win three World Series championships in the past five years. He went 6-4 with a 3.72 ERA and 23 saves in 64 outings last season as San Francisco earned a wild card and went on to win it all against Kansas City.Romo and Santiago Casilla have shared the closer job in recent years, with Casilla again taking over ninth-inning duties in 2014 after Romo blew three saves in June — a move by manager Bruce Bochy that paid off down the stretch. The Sun Sentinel in Florida first reported the Marlins and Giants were working on a trade involving McGehee.___AP Sports Writer Ronald Blum in New York contributed to this report. Joakim Soria Jersey . -- The guys in green raced off the court and into the locker room where they danced and sang, compared whose shot was most likely to end up featured on "One Shining Moment," and checked Twitter to see who was giving them a shoutout. Wade Davis Jersey . Bostons bats exploded in Mondays opener, as David Ortiz belted a pair of two-run homers, Stephen ;Drew homered and drove in four runs and the Red Sox pummeled the Blue Jays, 14-1.It seems only fitting, with the ridiculous number of injuries this season, the Majors would be marking an anniversary of some note. This is the 100th season of the disabled list. It was first instituted in the National League in 1915. At that time, it was for 10 days. Now its seven days for a concussion, and 15 or 60 days if its a long term injury. I did a rough count and came up with 64 players currently out with injuries. But that list didnt include some of the players whove been out since Spring Training, including Tampa Bay lefty Matt Moore. It also doesnt include the myriad of banged up players listed as day-to-day. Going with the 64 figure though, that means just less than 10% of the 650 players on Major League rosters on any given day are hurt. Blue Jays fans know this only too well. This is the third straight season that is being scuttled in part because of injuries. In 2012, it was the Jays losing Kyle ;Drabek, Brandon Morrow, and Drew Hutchison, all in one fateful week in June. Last season it was Jose Reyes, Brett Lawrie, and Jose Bautista, just to name a few. Right now the Jays are dealing with injuries to their 4, 5, and 6 hitters in Edwin Encarnacion, Adam Lind and Lawrie, with no definitive timetable for their return. With the All-Star break rapidly approaching, you could actually put something close to an All-Star squad for each League made up of players on the DL or just listed as day-to-day. Lets start with the American League: (C)  Matt Wieters- Orioles(1B) Edwin Encarnacion - Blue Jays or Joe Mauer- Minnesota(2B) Brett Lawrie- Blue Jays (OK maybe not quite an All-Star yet)(3B) Will Middlebrooks- Red Sox (Ditto)(SS) Yunel Escobar- Rays (defensively at least)(LF) Carlos Beltran- Yankees(CF) Michael Bourn- Indians(RF) Shane Victorino- Boston or Wil Myers- Rays(DH) Adam Lind- Blue Jays (Platoon at least) (SPs) Masahiro Tanaka- Yankees, C.C Sabathia- Yankees, Justin Masterson- Clevleand, C.J Wilson- Angels(Closer) Joel Hanrahan Detroit (not based on this season of couse) The National League squad may be even more impressive (C) Yadier Molina- Cardinals, Evan Gattis- Braves, or Caarlos Ruiz- Phillies(1B) Joey Votto- Reds(2B) Brandon Phillips- Reds(3B) Pablo Sandoval- Giants (not on DL, but cant straighten his arm due to elbow injury and is day-to-day)(SS) Chris Owings- Diamondbacks(LF)) Mark Trumbo- Diamondbacks(CF) A. Alex Gordon Jersey. . Pollock- Diamondbacks(RF) Carlos Gonzalez- Rockies  (SPs) Michael Wacha- Cardinals, Cliff Lee- Phillies, Josh Beckett-Dodgers(Closer) Aroldis Chapman- Reds (listed as day-to-day after a stint on the DL earlier in the season, when he took a line drive in the head.) I stretched it a bit calling some of these guys All-Stars, but Im sure you get the point. I dont really have any answers short of reducing the length of Spring Training and cutting back the regular season to 154 games, the way it used to be. Ditching interleague play to cut down on travel a bit more might be another solution. Sanchez growing with the Bisons Aaron Sanchez, who could be up with the Blue Jays at some point down the stretch or even used as trade bait, is still looking for his elusive first Triple A victory at Buffalo. Sanchez came up with a solid, and longer, outing Thursday night at home against Durham. He threw 83 pitches over six innings, but was saddled with a 3-2 loss that dropped his record to 0-2. Jeremy Moore tagged him for a long, game-winning two-run homer in the sixth but overall his numbers were pretty good.  It was his third straight quality start: he gave up five hits, three runs (one unearned), walked two and struck out six. Jays begin crucial series with Rays At the beginning of the season, I actually felt Tampa Bay would win the AL East. Injuries and a lack of depth did them in in the first half. Although the Rays are still nine and a half back of front running Baltimore in the East and eight back of Seattle for the second Wild Card, they are now the second hottest team in the AL East next to the Os. Theyve won seven out of 10 and 10 out of 14. Theyre getting healthy again as well, outfielders Wil Myers and David ;DeJesus should be back in the next couple of weeks. The Rays could make some noise down the stretch, and thats why the Jays cant afford to be swept by them this weekend at Tropicana Field. In fact, if the Jays can win or sweep the series themselves, it could push the Rays right out of the race and turn them from potential buyers into sellers at that July 31st non-waiver trade deadline. Soriano DFAd I wonder if the Blue Jays will take a flyer on Alfonso Soriano, who was designated for assignment by the Yankees the other day. He can still hit lefties, something the Jays have struggled with all season long. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
