COLUMBUS Wholesale Isaac Yiadom Jersey , Ohio (AP) Tyler Johnson and the Tampa Bay Lightning lit off some fireworks well ahead of midnight on New Year’s Eve.

The NHL’s best team scored four goals in a span of 7:23 of the second period in a 5-0 rout of the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday night, sucking the energy out of a sellout crowd.

Johnson scored twice, and Andre Vasilevskiy stopped all 21 shots to get his ninth career shutout. Johnson’s second-period goals extended his point streak to 12 games, tied for the longest in the league this season. He’s got eight goals and 10 assists in that stretch.

Nikita Kucherov got his league-leading 25th goal of the season, and Steven Stamkos and Cory Conacher also scored for the Lightning. Brayden Point, Mikhail Sergachev and Victor Hedman had two assists apiece.

Vasilevskiy didn’t have to work particularly hard in recording his league-leading fifth shutout of the season for the Lightning Michael Dickson Super Bowl LI Jersey , who lead the NHL in wins and sit atop the Atlantic Division at 28-8-2.

”I truly believe he’s the best goalie in the world right now,” Johnson said. ”He’s unbelievable. The saves he makes, it’s crazy. He’s a guy who works extremely hard, and he has no ceiling. He’s just going to keep getting better.”

Joonas Korpisalo had 30 saves for Columbus. He started in place of Sergei Bobrovsky, who has struggled lately and was rested by coach John Tortorella. The Blue Jackets were 6-6-2 in December and have slipped to third in the Metropolitan Division.

Columbus outshot the Lightning 12-5 in the opening period. They had two power plays and played much of the frame in Tampa Bay’s zone but couldn’t capitalize. The best chance was a clean breakaway by Nick Foligno with 1:35 left, but his shot was knocked down by Vasilevskiy.

”I think we gave up two breakaways at dicey times of the game Arden Key Super Bowl LI Jersey , and (Vasilevskiy) was there to make the save,” Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. ”And when he does that for you, we get a little taller.”

Tampa Bay broke through in the second. Johnson scored his 11th goal of the season with a wrist shot from the right circle, set up nicely by Point. Johnson put in his second goal of the night from the other circle 4:49 into the second, assisted again by Point and Sergachev.

Tampa Bay kept up the flurry at 7:53 when Kucherov buried a wrist shot from the slot. Just short of a minute later, Conacher unloaded a one-timer from the left circle that beat Korpisalo.

The Lightning outshot the Blue Jackets 23-6 in the period.

”They smelled blood Authentic Mark Walton Jersey , let’s be honest,” said Foligno, the Columbus captain. ”We didn’t do anything right in those 10, 12 minutes. We were just whacking pucks away, stick checking. It’s what we do to teams when we smell blood. We got it handed to us.”

Stamkos added the fifth goal 10:36 into the third on a power play, while the Blue Jackets managed just three on-target shots in the entire period.

The Lightning swept the three-game season series from the Blue Jackets.

The frustrated crowd booed the home team off the ice P.J. Hall Jersey Elite , many leaving before the postgame fireworks display.

VANCOUVER Tremaine Edmunds Super Bowl LI Jersey , British Columbia (AP) It couldn’t have been scripted any better.

Daniel and Henrik Sedin said goodbye to the hometown crowd with a memorable farewell.

Daniel scored the winning goal in overtime , off an assist from twin brother Henrik as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Arizona Coyotes 4-3 Thursday night.

Article continues below ...

It was the Sedins’ final NHL game at Rogers Arena and a step back in time for the crowd of 18,865 who had one more taste of the elegance and skill the brothers brought to the sport.

A blurry-eyed Daniel tried to describe his feelings when he saw the puck go into the net.

”Relief,” he said. ”I was happy. You couldn’t dream of a better ending in this building, the last time we stepped on this ice.

”It was emotional.”

For Henrik, the Canucks’ captain and franchise leader in points, it was a perfect ending to an emotional week.

”When I woke up this morning I knew it was going to be a big day Wholesale J'Mon Moore Jersey ,” said the older brother by six minutes. ”We tried to enjoy every minute of it.”

Daniel finished with two goals. Henrik also assisted on his first goal in the second period which tied the game 1-1.

The 37-year-old twins from Ornskoldsvik, Sweden, announced Monday they are retiring after playing 17 seasons with the Canucks. Drafted second and third overall in 1997, their final game will be Saturday in Edmonton against the Oilers.

The boisterous crowd at Rogers Arena was on its feet for most of the third period and the overtime. Between ovations there were chants of ”Go Sedins Go” and ”Hall of Fame.”

The anticipation ratcheted up even higher when the Sedins went over the boards after Arizona’s Richard Panik was called for hooking at 1:16 of overtime.

The goal came when Henrik passed back to Daniel, who blasted a shot from the blue line.

The Canucks came off the bench to mob the brothers. Hats littered the ice. Coyote players banged their sticks in recognition.

After the celebration Daniel and Henrik slowly skated around the arena, waving and clapping to the fans.

Defenseman Alex Edler said it was the kind of finish the Canucks wanted for their teammates.

”It was special for sure,” said Edler Derwin James Jersey Elite , who also assisted on both of Daniel’s goals. ”We talked before the game it was going to be loud. We just fed off that.

”The twins had a great game. They were on fire. It was a perfect ending.”

The first goal was a throwback to the Sedins’ early years.

The play began with Henrik making a move along the boards, then dishing the puck to Edler, who was streaking toward the goal. He passed to Daniel, who shot into an open net.

Both Sedins had season highs of ice time. Henrik logged 21 minutes 36 seconds. Daniel was on for 21:12 and had 10 shots on goal.

Winning the game was just the icing on the cake. Sending the fans home buzzing about a last special performance was the main victory for the Sedins.

”It means something,” Henrik said. ”The way the crowd showed up, right from the warmup.

”To finish off like we did, they can walk away and remember this. If you lose the game 5-1 Geron Christian Super Bowl LI Jersey , it’s not fun. It’s a better feeling for us.”

Christian Fischer, Derek Stepan and Dylan Strome scored for Arizona.

Jake Virtanen and Brendan Leipsic got the other goals for the Canucks. Both teams will miss the playoffs.

With Vancouver struggling in the standings, Rogers Arena has often been a quiet building with plenty of empty seats this season. The Sedins’ finale produced the energy and enthusiasm of a playoff game.

Even in the warmups, fans lined the boards waving signs and snapping pictures on cell phones. One woman held up a sign which lit up with the words ”Congrats Henrik and Daniel.”

The first standing ovation came when the Sedins skated out for the national anthems. During the game there were loud cheers each time the Sedins stepped on the ice, anticipation whenever they touched the puck.

The fans almost got their wish 18 seconds into the game when Henrik hit the post.

The standing ovations continued after most whistles during the third period. Daniel and Henrik acknowledged with waves.

Prior to the game there was a video tribute. Past Canucks players and coaches talked about the Sedins’ history, their contributions on the ice and their work in the community. A tribute mural wall was installed outside the arena for fans to write messages. The lights outside Rogers Arena and in many city buildings glowed Swedish blue and yellow in tribute.

During the game some fans chanted ”one more year.” Daniel was asked if there was any chance the brothers would reconsider their retirement.

”No, not at all Authentic Armani Watts Jersey ,” he said. ”I saw our kids up on the Jumbotron (during the game). That made me happy. We will spend more time with them.”

NOTES: Attending the game were the Sedins’ parents and two brothers. . The Canucks gave out their team awards with rookie Brock Boeser the most outstanding player, Alex Edler the top defenseman and Derek Dorsett the unsung hero.

Phillip Di Giusseppe and Jordan Staal each had a goal and assist to lead the Hurricanes to a 5-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night.

Brock McGinn, Noah Hanifin and Jeff Skinner also scored, and Cam Ward stopped 34 shots as Carolina remained nine points behind New Jersey, which also won, for the last wild card in the Eastern Conference with seven games remaining.

I really believe in our guys and they want to do it right each and every night and not let each other down Adidas Andrew Cogliano Jersey , so you’ve got to go out and play hard,” Hurricanes coach Bill Peters said.

Bobby Ryan and Thomas Chabot scored for the Senators, and Mike Condon finished with 19 saves.

Ottawa captain Erik Karlsson made an emotional return to the ice, playing for the first time since he and his wife announced Tuesday that their son Axel had been stillborn. A visibly moved Karlsson waved as he received a huge ovation from the home crowd when announced as part of the Senators’ starting lineup.

”It’s great. You’ve seen it with the fans that everyone was happy to see him. Same with us when we saw him (Saturday) morning we were all happy,” Chabot said. ”He’s a big part of our team as you know and the best player on our team so it’s good to have him back. We would have rather had a better game than that for his comeback but it’s just great to have him in the locker room and happy to just have him around.”

Karlsson made a surprise return for the morning skate and his presence meant a lot to his teammates. ”Huge Patrick Omameh Super Bowl LI Jersey ,” was how forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau described Karlsson’s return.

”He’s our captain, he’s our best player, he’s our leader and you want to be on the ice when he’s on,” Pageau said. ”He’s been there for all of us and we want to be there for him right now. We’re all happy that he was back today.”

Karlsson almost scored when his slap shot went off the post just under four minutes into the game.

McGinn gave the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead with a great tip in the slot off Klas Dahlbeck’s point shot to beat Condon through the legs with 2:41 left in the second period. The goal withstood a challenge for offside by the Senators.

Hanifin and Skinner scored 68 seconds apart to push the lead to 4-1 about midway into the third. Hanifin was left alone at the side of the goal and beat Condon with a wrist shot at 8:29. Skinner then fought off Mike Hoffman as he moved in and beat Condon with a backhand at 9:37.

Chabot scored with 3:26 left to cut the lead to 4-2, before Staal scored into an empty net in the final minute.

”Through the first two periods we didn’t get the bounces on our side. I thought we had chances and put a lot of pucks on net and then obviously in the third they came out and took the lead and it was too far to come back Terrelle Pryor Sr. Super Bowl LI Jersey ,” Pageau said.

Each team scored in the first period with the Hurricanes grabbing a 1-0 lead at 7:34 when Di Giuseppe beat Condon from a sharp angle.

Ryan tied it at 9:38 as he stood at the top of the crease and tipped Ryan Dzingel’s shot past Ward, who turned aside 11 shots in the period, including two breakaways.

After a turnover, Dzingel had a breakaway but was short on space and time as he only caught up to the puck about 20 feet in front of Ward. Minutes later, Pageau had all kinds of time as he was all alone from the blue line in but Ward made a pad save.

CHICAGO (AP) The Cleveland Browns got pushed to the brink of a winless season Mike Remmers Super Bowl LI Jersey , and the anger and embarrassment were as easy to spot as the mistakes they made.

DeShone Kizer called it a low point in his life. Coach Hue Jackson made his feelings clear, too.

Kizer threw two more interceptions and the Browns committed two turnovers in the red zone on the way to a 20-3 loss to the struggling Chicago Bears on a snowy Sunday.

Article continues below ...

One more loss and the Browns will join the 2008 Detroit Lions as the only teams to go 0-16.

It’s not hard to see why Kizer called this ”one of the more difficult moments in my life.” He insisted this will be ”one of the more pivotal years in my career.”

”You’ve got to understand what rock bottom looks like before you can even climb to the top,” Kizer said.

The Browns (0-15) could hit rock bottom when they wrap up the season at AFC North leader Pittsburgh next week. But whether they’re playing first-place teams or last-place teams, the Browns (0-15) keep racking up losses.

They’re 1-30 in two seasons under Jackson. And after beating the then-San Diego Chargers on Christmas Eve last year, there was no holiday celebration for them this time.

”I’m (ticked) off because I never saw this being this way in my two years – ever,” Jackson said. ”I’ve been coaching football for a long time Akeem Spence Jersey Elite , been through a lot of things, seen a lot of things. I just know without question we’re gonna get this fixed. … I’m not going to let this define our organization, our players, our coaches, as we move forward.”

Kizer threw for 182 yards and ran his league-leading interception total to 21. One of those was to a wide-open Kyle Fuller in the end zone in the second quarter.

Defensive end Myles Garrett had what looked like a 42-yard interception return for a touchdown early in the third quarter with the Browns trailing 6-3 wiped out because Carl Nassib was offside.

Rashard Higgins lost a fumble near the goal line that Chicago (5-10) recovered in the end zone. And Josh Gordon, playing through an illness Wholesale Lorenzo Carter Jersey , had just two catches for 19 yards.

Mitchell Trubisky threw for 193 yards and ran for a touchdown against his hometown team to help the Bears pick up the win in what might be coach John Fox’s final home game at Soldier Field. With a 14-33 record, he could be on his way out after three seasons.

The Bears at least avoided the ultimate indignity in a season full of them by not losing to the Browns.

HAUNTING HOMETOWN TEAM

Trubisky, who grew up near Cleveland, played a big role, completing 14 of 23 passes facing a blitzing defense. He scrambled for 44 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown in the third quarter that made it 20-3. And he played turnover-free ball after getting picked off three times by Detroit in the previous game.

”They’ve got a really good pressure package and they get to the quarterback really well and disguise it really well on the back end Joseph Noteboom Jersey Elite ,” Trubisky said. ”That’s what we wanted to do was just offset it with the screens. We hit them with a couple big ones and that was really big for us. We’ve got to keep using that and keep the defense on their heels any way we can.”

Though he finished with 44 yards on 22 carries, Jordan Howard ran for two scores, and the Bears came away with the win after dropping six of seven.

QUOTABLE

”Don’t be fearful, be grateful. No matter where you’re picked. If you’re part of the Browns, or you’re part of Chicago, whoever you are Authentic Anthony Miller Jersey , be grateful of the opportunity. There is no curse, there is no problem here. You got to be able to execute and finish games.” – Garrett on what he would tell players who don’t want to be drafted by the Browns.

Jackson declined comment on reports that he will hire an offensive coordinator in the offseason and hand over play-calling duties.

INJURY REPORT

Browns: Garrett got poked in the eye on the first play of the fourth quarter but returned to the game.

Bears: RT Bobby Massie played through a slight knee injury he suffered in the first quarter. He exited late in the game, though Fox said he could have stayed in if needed. … G Josh Sitton (ankle) and TE Adam Shaheen (chest) were inactive.

The Boston Bruins look to continue their recent surge Sunday when they travel to Philadelphia for a matinee game against the Flyers.

Boston moved back atop the Atlantic Division on Saturday with a 5-1 victory over the Florida Panthers at TD Garden.

Jake DeBrusk had two goals and an assist Da'Shawn Hand Jersey Elite , and linemates Ryan Donato (one goal, one assist) and David Krejci (three assists) helped the trio combine for eight points.

Article continues below ...

“I liked it. I think most people liked it,” Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said of adding winger Donato to the Krejci-centered line. “I thought they had good chemistry; they were feeding off each other.

“Krejci, obviously, I think him and Jake have had real good chemistry. It’s one consistent, for the most part Logan Woodside Jersey Elite , that Krech has had, so it was a pretty good line in terms of puck possession, making plays. They can each complement each other. So we’ll see how it goes.”

The Bruins (49-17-11) lead the Tampa Bay Lightning by one point with a game in hand. Boston is 5-0-3 in its last eight games.

Tuukka Rask (10-0-1 in his last 11 starts) stopped 30 of 31 shots.

The Panthers took a 1-0 lead at 4:59 of the first period, but Boston tied it midway through the period and led 2-1 before the first 20 minutes were over.

“Yeah, we’re playing good,” Rask said. “It was a good start. We kept it going Cody Latimer Super Bowl LI Jersey , it looked like guys were making plays and playing with confidence, it’s fun to watch, like people say.”

Boston’s road trip continues Tuesday with a showdown against the Lightning and concludes Thursday when they visit the Panthers.

The news wasn’t all good for the Bruins. Center Riley Nash left after getting hit in the head with a shot in the second period and defenseman Brandon Carlo left in the third period with an undisclosed injury.

“Didn’t look good when you go off on a stretcher, obviously,” Cassidy said of Carlo. “So we’ll keep our fingers crossed on that one. Same with Nash. I know he was getting stitches in his ear … Not what you want right now, but we’ll see how they are.”

The Flyers (39-25-14) have injury issues of their own as they chase the Columbus Blue Jackets and Pittsburgh Penguins for second place in the Metropolitan Division while comfortably in wild-card position.

Goaltender Michal Neuvirth — just back after missing 18 games with a lower-body injury — left Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche with a lower-body injury. Petr Mrazek Jonathan Allen Jersey Elite , who had been slumping, replaced Neuvirth 8:07 into the second period and made 17 saves.

Ivan Provorov had a goal and an assist and Claude Giroux scored as Flyers ended a mini-losing streak at two games.

“Just a gutsy effort,” Flyers coach Dave Hakstol NHL.com. “I think we’ve gotten a lot of those efforts throughout the year.

“I thought everybody that was in the lineup just went out and did their part. There was a couple of great performances probably to go with it, but everybody in the lineup for sure did their part.”

With Neuvirth day-to-day, the Flyers recalled Alex Lyon, who will back up Mrazek on Sunday. Goalie Brian Elliott Authentic Jason Heyward Jersey , out since core muscle surgery in February, practiced Saturday and could return before the end of the regular season.

“I’ve never had a surgery before so it’s a new process for me and it’s a tough time of year because there’s a possibility of coming back at the end and you’re shooting for it,” Elliott told the Courier Post.

After Sunday, the Flyers close against the bottom three teams in the division. They travel to Brooklyn to face the New York Islanders before hosting the Carolina Hurricanes and the New York Rangers.

SEATTLE (AP) Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon denied Thursday that he sexually harassed a former assistant.

Moon did an extensive radio interview on KIRO-FM to address claims of sexual assault brought in a lawsuit by Wendy Haskell.

”A lot of women have held a lot of these feelings in for a long time Nate Solder Jersey Elite , and are coming out and expressing these feelings, and they should be applauded for that,” Moon said. ”And I applaud those women for doing that. But in this particular situation, in my case, it just doesn’t apply.”

Article continues below ...

Haskell filed the lawsuit in Orange County, California Adidas Matt Murray Jersey , this month, asserting that Moon made ”unwanted and unsolicited” sexual advances while she worked for Sports 1 Marketing. Moon, who played parts of 17 seasons in the NFL with Houston, Minnesota, Seattle and Kansas City, is the co-founder and president of the company.

Moon said Thursday he had a friendship with Haskell before she was hired as his assistant last summer and that their relationship was never sexual. Moon said he believed the lawsuit was in response to her being switched to a different job within the company.

”Our relationship kind of escalated over the last year or so and became more of just a friendship; we basically became like really close companions Wholesale B.J. Hill Jersey ,” Moon said. ”But we have been very, very close. We’ve shared a lot of things; we’ve talked a lot; we’ve been a lot of different places together; we’ve traveled together; we’ve done a lot of different things. So that’s one thing that people don’t know. There was a pre-existing relationship before she ever started working for me.”

The lawsuit alleges that Haskell was forced to sleep in the same bed with Moon on business trips while wearing lingerie. Haskell says she complained about the arrangement, but that Moon responded, ”this was the way it was.”

In the interview, Moon admitted the pair had shared a hotel bed on trips but said nothing sexual occurred. He said Haskell was never forced to wear lingerie. When questioned if he thought sharing a room was appropriate, Moon said he didn’t view the behavior as out of the norm Ed Dickson Jersey Elite , noting he had done that in the past.

”At times we did share rooms together, and at other times we didn’t,” Moon said Thursday. ”It just depended on the situation.”

Haskell also contends she was drugged by Moon during a trip to Mexico in October. The lawsuit alleges that Moon acknowledged drugging Haskell because he thought she wasn’t ”having fun.” She also claims Moon pulled off her swimsuit during the Mexico trip.

”All of that is totally untrue, and I have witnesses that would testify to that, that were present or knew the situation. So, no truth to that at all Minkah Fitzpatrick Super Bowl LI Jersey ,” Moon said.

He also was accused of sexual harassment in 1995 by a Minnesota Vikings cheerleader in a case that was settled out of court. Moon was also arrested the same year in Texas for an altercation with his wife. Moon was acquitted in the case after his wife testified she started the fight.

Moon took leave from his job as a commentator on the Seattle Seahawks’ radio broadcasts after the suit was made public.

LOS ANGELES (AP) Well Authentic David Ross Jersey , that didn’t last long.

The Los Angeles Rams’ first playoff appearance in 13 seasons came to a quick end Saturday night when the young, upstart team led by the NFL’s youngest coach was schooled by Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons, who won the wild-card game 26-13.

It was the Rams’ first playoff game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum since 1979 and their first in Southern California since 1986.

Article continues below ...

Only six Rams players had playoff experience, including left tackle Andrew Whitworth, who went 0-6 with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Whitworth said it was natural that players would be nervous in their first playoff appearance.

However, second-year quarterback Jared Goff downplayed the team’s lack of postseason experience.

”I think they played better than we did,” Goff said. ”Playoff inexperience Authentic Tyler Flowers Jersey , I don’t know what that means. Each game’s the same. This one has a little bit more meaning to it, of course. But we did not play well. And if we played like this two weeks ago against the same team, we would have lost as well.”

The Rams fell behind 13-0 thanks to two special teams gaffes by Pro Bowler Pharoh Cooper. Todd Gurley got going too late to help, although he did finish with 101 yards rushing. Goff made some nice passes, but also had some misses and watched his teammates make some drops.

Cooper fumbled on a kickoff return late in the first quarter when he was hit by Damontae Kazee, with Kemal Ishmael recovering at the Rams 32.

Devonta Freeman capped the short drive with a 3-yard scoring run to give the Falcons a 13-0 lead.

Matt Bryant kicked field goals of 29 and 51 yards in the first quarter.

The Falcons, who blew a 28-3 lead in last season’s Super Bowl Wholesale Troy Apke Jersey , had their first score set up by a special teams blunder by the Rams that allowed Atlanta to almost completely flip the field.

With the Falcons forced to punt from their 14, Cooper was indecisive and let the ball bounce at about the L.A. 40. It hit off Blake Countess’ foot during a wild scramble that ended with LaRoy Reynolds recovering at the Rams 17.

The Falcons had to settle for Bryant’s 29-yarder. He kicked a 51-yarder on Atlanta’s next possession.

Cooper took the blame for the miscues. He said he should have protected the ball better on the kickoff return. On the punt, he said he needed to take control of the situation by yelling ”Poison,” as in, get away from the ball.

”They’ve been so good for us all year,” Goff said. ”They’ve won so many games for us. You can go look throughout the whole season how many games those guys, in particular Pharoh Jonathan Allen Jersey Elite , have contributed to and put us in good field position. The first one was a freak one and the second one I know he’d like to have back. He’s a Pro Bowl returner and has done such a good job this year. I know we wouldn’t want anyone (else) back there.”

The Rams had gone from 4-12 in 2016, their first season back in Los Angeles after 22 years in St. Louis, to 11-5 and the NFC West championship under first-year coach Sean McVay.

The Rams were hosting their first playoff game in the Coliseum since Jan. 7, 1979, when they lost 28-0 to the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC championship game. It was their first playoff game in Southern California since Jan. 4, 1986, when they beat the Cowboys 20-0 at Anaheim Stadium.

McVay was born 20 days after that game.

The Rams moved to St. Louis after the 1994 season and won their only Super Bowl after the 1999 season.

They moved back to L.A. prior to the 2016 season.

”It’s hard Frank Ragnow Jersey Elite ,” Goff said. ”We didn’t want this to end at all. We’ve got such a special group of dudes in there, coaches and everybody. It’s such a special group. You don’t want it to end this early by any means. But I think we have a good, strong core group we’ve built this year.”

As they start the unofficial second half of the season Tuesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks in Bridgestone Arena Wholesale Brian O'Neill Jersey , the Nashville Predators boast a 29-11-7 record. They’re on pace for the best season in franchise history and have lost just four times in regulation at home.

Yet they aren’t even in first place in the Central Division, thanks to Winnipeg’s emergence. In fact, one bad week will bring them into the wild-card race. Simply put, there is no margin for error, even for an elite team like Nashville.

“It’s crazy,” Predators coach Peter Laviolette said. “You look at the standings and if you have a bad week, you could be out of the playoffs. The Central Division is certainly tight Authentic R.A. Dickey Jersey , just in regard to the cluster of teams and a certain amount of points percentage.”

Nashville appears on paper to hold the cards in terms of winning the division. It has three games in hand on Winnipeg and Dallas, plus four on St. Louis, and the Predators have flashed superior depth throughout the season.

Case in point: Their 6-0-2 stretch in the last eight games, all without left winger Filip Forsberg, tied for the team lead in goals with 15. No. 1 center Ryan Johansen has developed a mysterious allergy to shooting the puck with only five markers in 44 games on a mere 66 shots, yet Nashville continues to win.

The major reason is an airtight defense. The Predators have allowed the second-fewest goals in the league despite being outshot on average. They suppress quality scoring chances, rarely allowing goalies Pekka Rinne and Juuse Saros to get screened.

Defenseman P.K. Subban Authentic Kirk Gibson Jersey , who was inconsistent at times last season due to injuries, is playing at a Norris Trophy level this season. Not only does he lead the team in scoring with 12 goals and 25 assists in 47 games, Subban is also playing some of the best defense of his career.

One sequence from Sunday’s All-Star Game, in which he used positioning and quickness to take Johnny Gaudreau out of a play on which it appeared he might have a Grade A chance, symbolized Subban’s season perfectly.

“It was nice to get into a game situation, especially going into this week,” Subban said of the weekend in Tampa. “We have some big games.”

This is also big for Chicago (23-19-7) Dallas Goedert Super Bowl LI Jersey , which is in an unfamiliar position — last place in the division. The Blackhawks are four points out of the last playoff spot in the Western Conference, reflecting a team going through a transition phase.

Chicago did play one of its best games of the season just before the All-Star break, routing Detroit 5-1 Thursday night in the Motor City behind a hat trick from rookie Alex DeBrincat. It was a breakout performance for a team that struggled for offense in prior games.

“We knew goals were coming,” said forward Anthony Duclair. “It was just a matter of time.”

Goals might not come as easily against Rinne (24-8-3, 2.35, .927), who in his last seven games against the Blackhawks has allowed just eight markers. That includes last April’s 4-0 sweep in the conference quarterfinals that started Nashville’s unlikely run to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Anton Forsberg (4-7-3 Wholesale Ryan Switzer Jersey , 3.00, .910) or Jeff Glass (3-3-2, 3.15, .910) could start in net for the Blackhawks.

his fourth on a breakaway

DENVER (AP) Anze Kopitar was asked over and over about scoring four goals. All he wanted to do was talk about earning two points. That’s the No. 1 figure on his mind.

”I’m playing for the guys in here. Our goal is to make the playoffs Wholesale Sam Darnold Jersey ,” Kopitar said . ”That’s all it comes down to.”

Still, it was a pretty special evening for the Los Angeles captain.

Article continues below ...

Kopitar became the first Kings player with a four-goal game since 1993, Jonathan Quick stopped 29 shots and LA picked up another valuable road win by cruising past the Colorado Avalanche 7-1 on Thursday night.

Kopitar was so efficient that he picked up his fourth career hat trick with 7:33 remaining in the second period. He added another goal early in the third. This was the first four-goal game by a Kings player since Luc Robitaille accomplished the feat on Nov. 25, 1993, at Quebec.

”He’s elite. He’s one of the best players in the league,” said Kopitar’s teammate Nate Thompson, who had two assists. ”I have a first-row seat and it’s fun to watch.”

Not if you’re on the other side. The Avalanche simply couldn’t stop him.

”He’s a world-class player for a reason Byron Maxwell Super Bowl LI Jersey ,” Colorado captain Gabriel Landeskog said. ”He showed that tonight.”

Tobias Rieder had two goals and Jake Muzzin scored his first since Feb. 3 for the Kings, who surpassed Anaheim for the third spot in the Pacific Division. Los Angeles improved to 6-0-2 over its last eight road games.

Quick allowed an early goal to Mikko Rantanen and was stellar after that in a game that had a playoff feel. Well, at least early, before the Kings reeled off seven unanswered goals.

”They came out pretty hard the first five minutes. … We settled in and played our game, our road game, our team game,” Thompson said. ”I thought we played a pretty complete game.”

The Kings beat an Avalanche team that’s 15-3-1 in its last 19 games on home ice. Colorado remains in a wild-card spot with eight games remaining.

Time to scoreboard watch?

”You’ve got to be careful watching the scoreboard because it’s wasted emotion Jihad Ward Super Bowl LI Jersey ,” Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said. ”We’re concentrating on what we have to do to get in.”

Semyon Varlamov showed signs of fatigue in giving up five goals before being replaced by backup Jonathan Bernier in the second period. Varlamov has appeared in 19 straight games (17 starts) with Bernier sidelined by a concussion. Bernier returned Thursday and allowed two goals.

It’s the third time this season the Avs have allowed seven goals.

Trailing 3-1, Nathan MacKinnon clanged one off the crossbar seconds into the second period. Moments later, Rieder found himself on a breakaway and beat Varlamov with a wrist shot.

That pretty much wrapped things up. About the only drama was Kopitar’s hat-trick quest.

He recorded his first hat trick since Feb. 12, 2016, with a backhander in the second period. Some of the fans at the Pepsi Center littered the ice with hats. He wasn’t done there, though, scoring his fourth on a breakaway.

”I just felt all night that the puck was kind of following me around Chukwuma Okorafor Super Bowl LI Jersey ,” Kopitar said. ”It worked out for me tonight.”

At 30, Kopitar’s turning in his best statistical season with 86 points.

”We’re all happy for him,” Thompson said. ”He’s usually the guy that’s dishing the puck, a pass-first kind of guy. He can score goals, too, apparently. It was a pleasure to watch.”

Colorado took a 1-0 lead 3:33 into the game when Gabriel Landeskog kicked a sliding puck over to Rantanen, who rocketed it into the net. The advantage lasted all of 55 seconds.

MacKinnon had an assist to extend his point streak to a career-best 14 games. It was also his 92nd point of the season Mike Gesicki Super Bowl LI Jersey , the most by an Avalanche player since Joe Sakic had 100 in 2006-07.

NOTES: Quick was credited with his fourth assist of the season on Rieder’s goal. … Dustin Brown had two assists. … Avs F Carl Soderberg missed a second straight game with an illness. … D Tyson Barrie had his 11-game point streak snapped. … Rantanen and MacKinnon both have 21 points in March, the most in the NHL.

Anthony Miller is trying really hard to follow advice given to him at the NFL combine.

Slow down Bryce Petty Super Bowl LI Jersey , just enough to stay focused and avoid making a mistake simply because the wide receiver is moving too fast.

That’s easier said than done for the man who had no offers from any FBS college coming out of high school and chose to walk on at Memphis. Miller is in a hurry to prove he’s the best wide receiver in the 2018 NFL draft.

Article continues below ...

”There’s not anything in my game that somebody can say that I don’t have,” Miller said. ”I feel like I bring a lot to the table, and I feel like I deserve a chance. That’s really all I need is a chance. Say I go first round or third round, if I get that chance I’m going to remain on that team. They’re going to love what I bring to the table.”

Miller comes by that self-confidence naturally. That’s why he ignored a couple of offers from Football Championship Subdivision schools in order to walk on at his hometown university. And he left with a handful of receiving records: 238 catches for 3,590 yards and 37 touchdowns for his career. He topped his own single-season marks with 96 receptions for 1,462 yards, helping Memphis rank No. 25 in the final Associated Press poll.

”It’s just fun to me,” Miller said of playing football. ”I feel like a person shouldn’t do anything if they don’t enjoy doing it. Whenever I step on that field Wholesale Preston Brown Jersey , I see it as fun. I’m blessed to have this talent that I have, and every time I step on that field I’m just going to give it my all because it’s created so many opportunities for me as well.”

Kevin Locastro has seen Miller’s love of football. Locastro first met Miller when the receiver was in the seventh grade and headed to Christian Brothers High School. Miller came in as a freshman, undersized and maybe 105 pounds, but always the first player on the field for practice and the last to leave. He saw someone who enjoyed football so much that Miller’s work ethic was infectious, even in the sticky heat of summer weight workouts.

”You don’t see much of his humility when he’s playing, to be honest with you,” said Locastro, now athletic director at Lausanne Collegiate School. ”Not that he’s an in-your-face Leighton Vander Esch Jersey Elite , trash-talking type kid all the time. He plays with a certain level of confidence, and he wants to compete with the best. As soon as he steps off the field, he’s just a really good young man. He’s a yes sir, no sir kid. Very polite.”

Miller had one edge, even as a high school freshman: big hands. Locastro says it seems Miller’s hands are still growing, and Miller had some of the largest hands measured at this year’s combine at 10 inches.

”The other day I visited my grandma, and we put our hands up next to each other. I saw that her hands were pretty big as well,” Miller said of his mother’s mother. ”She’s like Authentic Rusney Castillo Jersey , `That’s where you got your hands from.’ I said, `maybe so.’ But my dad has big hands as well. So do my uncles. I guess it runs in the family a little bit.”

Miller also lifted 225 pounds 22 times at the combine. Memphis coach Mike Norvell, who calls Miller one of the greatest wide receivers he’s been around, said that combination allows Miller to do so many things.

”When he gets those mitts on you, it’s a challenge for most defensive backs,” Norvell said. ”But then some of the catches that you see him have, the one-handed catches, the reaction catches where he’s only able to get one hand up Authentic Cordy Glenn Jersey , having the size hands that he has and the strength that he has in them really allows him to do some special things catching the football.”

Miller answered one question about himself on April 3. He broke his right foot in the Liberty Bowl when Memphis lost 21-20 to Iowa State , but Miller ran the 40-yard dash at Memphis’ pro day , where he was told scouts clocked him at 4.46 and 4.52 seconds.

That has kept him very busy visiting with teams. The Minnesota Vikings showed interest, as did Carolina and Atlanta. He grew up rooting for the Cowboys like his father, but Miller only wants to be drafted.

”Like I said,” he repeated, ”I just need an opportunity.”
