Lacoste team up again to inspire support for threatened species

Lacoste team up again to inspire support for threatened species

As part of its three-year collaboration with IUCN’s SOS - Save Our Species initiative, which began in 2018, the global apparel company Lacoste will sell limited-edition polo shirts where its crocodile logo temporarily makes way for 10 different threatened species. The number of shirts for each species corresponds to the number of known individuals remaining in the wild. While each species faces specific threats, all are in need of increased funding for conservation action to help ensure their long-term survival.Get more news about cheap lacoste mens t shirts, you can vist kictg.com!

“This campaign highlighting the plight of 10 threatened species will help widen awareness of the global extinction crisis,” said IUCN Director General Inger Andersen. “The collaboration with Lacoste is an excellent example of one of many roles that businesses can play to help stop the deterioration of our natural world. Further support from businesses and individuals is urgently needed to conserve the species and ecosystems on which we depend for food security, water security, and countless other benefits.”

On 22 May – the International Day for Biological Diversity – ten Lacoste stores across the Americas, Europe, Asia and online will put the spotlight on one specific species, selling limited-edition polo shirts related to just that animal.

“This is an exciting collaboration which is already making a difference; we are delighted that funding from last year’s campaign is helping to conserve Critically Endangered Burmese roofed turtles in Myanmar, for example,” said Thierry Guibert, CEO of Lacoste.

All profits from the sale of 3,520 limited-edition polo shirts and all other items sold on the day in the ten stores will support IUCN’s efforts to conserve threatened wildlife. A call for proposals will be issued later in 2019 to identify and fund suitable conservation projects.

The Nike Air Swoopes And The Disappearance Of Women's Signature Shoes

The Nike Air Swoopes And The Disappearance Of Women's Signature Shoes

Dawn Staley is the head women’s basketball coach at the University of South Carolina. She won three Olympic gold medals and is one of the greatest WNBA players of all time. And when she was a kid, basketball shoes were everything.Get more news about air jordan shoes white, you can vist ajsize.com!

"You know, I grew up in the projects of North Philly," Staley says. "I grew up wearing a lot of different sneakers. I didn’t care what I looked like from my ankles up — I had to have the newest, the best pair of sneakers out there."

Staley remembers wearing Charles Barkley’s signature line. She wasn’t much of a Jordan fan. In any case, she wore men’s shoes.Everyone I played with were males," Staley says. "That’s what I wore. That’s what I was comfortable wearing. And I just really didn’t know the difference."

Basketball shoes for women didn’t exist when Staley was growing up. But before long, that changed. In the summer of 1996, Staley and Team USA won their first gold medal at the Olympic Games in Atlanta."Women's basketball was pretty much at an all-time high," Staley says.

The American Basketball League, or ABL, had been founded a year earlier. The WNBA followed shortly after. And as the country saw women’s basketball gaining popularity, Nike saw a groundbreaking business opportunity.

"To me now, later in life, I feel that it was more special and amazing than it felt at the time," say Marni Gerber, a Senior Design Director at Nike.

In the lead-up to the ’96 Olympics, Gerber and Nike partnered with Team USA star Sheryl Swoopes to design a signature basketball shoe. By then, Nike had released 10 Michael Jordan signature shoes in the Air Jordan line. Several other NBA players had their own models, too. But in the women’s game, Sheryl Swoopes' shoe would be the first. And for Gerber, that meant rethinking what basketball shoes could be.

"At the time, basketball shoes were really overbuilt," Gerber says. "Sheryl’s not giant like some of these guys are. So, how could I design a shoe that was less shoe and more her?"

Nike thinks you’re probably wearing the wrong size shoe

Nike thinks you’re probably wearing the wrong size shoe

Nike, the world’s biggest sneaker maker, wants to solve a problem it knows far too many people have: Which size shoes will fit?Get more news about best mens air jordan shoes, you can vist ajsize.com!

Many shoppers have gone online and ordered multiple pairs of the same style shoe, in different sizes, planning to send back what doesn’t fit. The reasons are simple. Consumers often find they fit into different sizes — maybe a 7.5 women’s here, an 8.5 women’s there — depending on the brand and style. So, when it comes time to buy a new pair, there’s a lot of guessing going on.

It’s actually, very likely you don’t even know what your true shoe size is. Your feet could also be two entirely different sizes.Fit is such a big friction point for our customers,” said Michael Martin, Nike’s global head of digital products. “We reached a point of realizing this was not just the biggest problem but biggest transformational opportunity that we have. ... No matter how good the shoe is, if the foot doesn’t fit well within the shoe, you’re not going to get peak performance from it.”

Now, Nike says it has a solution. The company will launch Nike Fit, a service being added in North America this July to its mobile app and in stores. Nike Fit will scan customers’ feet and determine the correct size. The service will roll out to Europe in August, moving to other international markets soon after.

Nike Fit is part of Nike’s bigger push to sell more products directly to consumers through its own shops, website and mobile app, relying less on wholesale partners than it has in the past. And so Nike is opening new stores, like its House of Innovation in New York and Nike Live in Los Angeles, designed specifically for those markets and selling items visitors can’t find anywhere else.

Nike said its direct sales in 2018 were up 12%, thanks to strong e-commerce growth and the opening of new stores. And it said direct-to-consumer revenue ended the year representing roughly 30% of total Nike brand sales, up from 28% in the prior year. With a market cap of roughly $130 billion, Nike has watched its shares climb nearly 22% over the past 12 months, outpacing the S&P 500 Retail ETF’s (XRT’s) decline of 1.5%.

Nike Fit will also help the retailer better manage inventory, cut down on returns and even entice shoppers to buy more shoes, early beta testing of the technology showed. At its core, Nike Fit will work when a customer opens the Nike app, selects a shoe to buy, and then instead of selecting a numerical size, the shopper will be presented with the option to scan his or her foot straight using a smartphone. A scan can take less than 15 seconds. And then Nike Fit will recommend a size for that particular shoe being considered. That information — such as the width of the shoppers’ foot, down to the millimeter — will be saved for later purchases, too, because the size may vary with the style. Nike’s Air Jordan shoe, for example, fits differently than other sneakers.

Even More European Club Soccer Kits Unveiled Ahead of 2021-22 Season

Premier League side Everton FC are bringing the ol’ razzle-dazzle to their home kits for 2021-22. The front of the shirt features a tonal blue “dazzle camo” pattern, inspired by British warships in World War I. The collars and sleeve cuffs are trimmed in white and yellow, and the raglan sleeves are solid blue with white Hummel chevrons. The shorts and socks to be worn with this shirt are both white with blue trim.Get more news about Everton FC soccer jersey, you can vist futbolucl.com !

While the pattern on Everton’s home jersey is subtle, the pattern on their goalkeeper kit is anything but. It features blue and yellow stripes on a black base, with black raglan sleeves and a black crew neck collar. The club crest is rendered in black and white.

When Premier League side Southampton FC unveiled their new home kits in May, they were full of tributes to both their old stadium, The Dell, and their new stadium, St. Mary’s. That theme carries into their third kit for 2021-22, as the front of the black shirt features tonal graphics of both stadiums. The raglan sleeves are solid black with red Hummel chevrons and red trim on the cuffs, and the black V-neck collar is trimmed with red. The sponsor logo, Hummel logo and club crest are all rendered in red.

French Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims are going old school with their 2021-22 home kits manufactured by Umbro. The kit features a red body with tonal vertical stripes, white sleeves and a white polo collar. Thin red lines run through the center of both the collar and the sleeve cuffs, and a small French flag can be seen at the base of the collar. Sponsor logos, the Umbro logo and the club crest are rendered in white.

French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais and Puma have kept things simple for their 2021-22 home and away kits. The home kit is solid red, with sponsor and manufacturer logos in white. There is a black insert at the base of the collar, and the black side panels that run under each arm feature a tonal pattern inspired by the flag of Brittany, where the city of Rennes is located.

Even simpler is the away kit, which is solid white with black sponsor and manufacturer logos. The only other notable design element is a narrow black stripe that appears on each side of the jersey.

Spanish La Liga side Deportivo Alaves is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2021, and their new home kit for 2021-22, manufactured by Kelme, harkens back to a design the club wore in the 1920s. The front of the shirt is half blue and half white, with sleeves that contrast to the body color on their respective sides. The polo collar is also half blue and half white, matching the sleeve color on each side, with a blue placket. The sleeve cuffs have blue and white stripes.

The back of the home jersey is solid blue, with the names of all the players to play for Alaves over the last 100 years are printed in a slightly darker shade of blue. The Ikkuriña flag, the official flag of the Basque Country Autonomous Community of Spain, appears on the back collar.

The away kit is mainly white, with two blue stripes running across the front and the club crest centered on the chest. A tonal pattern also appears across the entire shirt. The V-neck collar is black, and diagonal blue stripes appear on each side of the jersey.

MACY’S FIRST BLACK-OWNED PLUS-SIZE CLOTHING LINE

NINA PARKER MAKES HISTORY WITH MACY’S FIRST BLACK-OWNED PLUS-SIZE CLOTHING LINE

After designing her own looks for the 2020 Oscars and the 2021 Golden Globes, Parker is set to debut The Nina Parker Collection for Macy’s next month, E! News reports. The line is the department store’s first time ever displaying a plus-size line created by a Black woman.Get more news about cheap Plus Size Bottoms for women, you can vist 5xsize.com!

With her career as a TV correspondent, Parker is often in the public eye and found it challenging to find clothing that accentuated her figure. “My stylist and I were trying to find stuff off of the rack and it just wasn’t comparable to my counterparts,” Nina said. “It felt really unfair, like, ‘Yes, I am bigger than them, but does that mean I don’t matter as much because my waist is bigger?'”

She also noted the lack of desirable fashion options for full-figured women. “With plus sizes, it’s like they want us to hide,” the Nightly Pop host explained. “They’re matronly, something my aunties might wear. I’m like, ‘I don’t understand why big has to mean conservative.'”

With her 17-pieces ranging in sizes from size 16W to 24W, Parker hopes to help curvy women show off their vibrant flair through fashion. “I want them to feel bossy, like they can walk in a room and everybody will take notice.”The affordability of the line ranges from $39 – $129 and includes tank tops, dresses, and denim that feature bold prints, fun fabrics, and of course sequins to shine bright. “If the quality of the fabric wasn’t up to par, I wasn’t doing it,” Parker declared.

Also, buyers can expect to see the collection displayed front and center in Macy’s, unlike the placements many plus-size sections have in retail stores. “Sometimes you feel like you’re getting a drug deal,” Parker jokingly said. “It’s like, ‘Why do we have to feel like we’re being alienated because of our size?”’

8 Reasons why Aluminium is Perfect for Windows and Doors

8 Reasons why Aluminium is Perfect for Windows and Doors

Aluminium has been called a ‘magical metal’. Mainly found as Bauxite ore, it’s the third most common element in the earth’s crust and the most abundant metal on the planet. But what makes it perfect for use in windows, doors and curtain walling?Get more news about Aluminium Profile Door, you can vist our website!

Well, it’s the chemical, physical and mechanical properties of modern-day aluminium alloys that account for the steep rise in its global use at over 5% every year. Here are just 8 reasons why the market for aluminium frames in the glazing world continues to grow, now dominating the commercial market and giving PVC-U a run for its money in the residential sector.
Light weight – Aluminium is a very light metal with a specific weight of just 2.7 g/cm3, which is about a third that of steel or copper. In fact, it’s one of the lightest commercially available metals. This makes it ideal for window and door frames, but using a lightweight frame is especially important when it comes to curtain walling. Curtain walls are not structural and are only able to carry their own weight, so the lighter the better.
Resistant to corrosion – if you’re looking for a low maintenance window, then aluminium is your answer. That’s because when aluminium comes into contact with air, a protective layer of aluminium oxide immediately forms on the surface. This layer is extremely resistant to corrosion from anything the weather can throw at it, including acid rain, and won’t be damaged by cleaning products. And unlike timber or PVC-U frames, aluminium window frames won’t swell, crack, split or warp over the years whatever the weather. Protection from corrosion can be increased even further by anodising or painting (usually by powder coating) the surface.
Won’t break – aluminium is both malleable and ductile – in case you’ve forgotten your GCSE chemistry, that means it can be bent or pressed into shape or drawn out into a thin wire without losing its toughness and without breaking or cracking. In other words, its pliable not brittle. In fact, aluminium is the second most malleable metal and the sixth most ductile. This is fantastic news for anyone wanting a curved curtain wall or window, as the aluminium frame profiles can easily be bent or pressed into the required shape without any danger of them breaking.
100% Recyclable – Aluminium is unique when it comes to recycling metals. It is 100% recyclable and the quality of recycled aluminium is identical to that of virgin aluminium. Which means it can be recycled again and again. In fact, nearly 75 percent of all aluminium ever produced is still in use today. This is good news for aluminium supply, especially when you consider that since the first industrial quantities of aluminium were produced around 100 years ago, worldwide demand for aluminium has grown to around 29 million tons per year. But it’s even better news for the environment, because whilst it takes 14,000 kWh to produce 1 tonne of new aluminium, it only takes 5-10% of this to remelt and recycle the same amount. Which means a smaller carbon footprint and lower costs.
Very strong – aluminium alloys are used to make window door and curtain wall frames. That’s because pure aluminium on its own doesn’t have a high tensile strength. However, once it is alloyed with other elements like manganese, silicon, copper and magnesium its strength increases vastly. The tensile strength of pure aluminium is around 90 MPa but can be increased to over 690 MPa as an alloy. In fact, Aluminium which as we’ve already seen is one of the lightest engineering metals, has a far better strength to weight ratio than steel when used as an alloy. Even more impressive, unlike steel, the strength of aluminium increases the colder it gets, whereas steel becomes brittle at low temperatures (below 0oC). This means that aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling can more than cope with the most extreme winter temperatures in the UK. The lowest temperature recorded in the UK was -27.2°C in Scotland.
Readily forms alloys – as we’ve already seen aluminium is usually alloyed with other elements to improve its physical properties. For example, the strength of pure commercial aluminium can be increased by 20% by simply adding manganese. Aluminium also readily forms alloys with silicon, copper, zinc, iron and magnesium. This means it is possible to produce a range of alloys with properties tailored to particular applications. Aluminium glazing firms use alloys of aluminium with silicon and magnesium which are an excellent choice for extruding aluminium profiles. They are very versatile, heat treatable, highly formable, weldable and have high strength plus excellent corrosion resistance.

Claxton Poultry Farms indicted for price fixing, bid rigging

Claxton Poultry Farms indicted for price fixing, bid rigging

A federal grand jury returned an indictment against Norman W. Fries Inc., doing business as Claxton Poultry Farms, on charges of participating in a nationwide conspiracy to fix prices and rig bids for broiler chicken products, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) said.Get more news about Poultry Farms, you can vist our website!

In June 2020, Mikell Fries, president of Claxton Poultry, and Scott Brady, vice president of national accounts at the company, were indicted along with Jayson Penn, former chief executive officer of Pilgrim’s Pride, and Roger Austin, vice president of fresh foodservice at Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., for their alleged role in the conspiracy to fix prices for broiler chickens. Fries and Brady are among 10 individuals charged in a superseding indictment in October 2020 for their roles in the conspiracy.
The indictment states that Claxton participated in a network of suppliers and co-conspirators whose understood purpose “...was to suppress and eliminate competition through rigging bids and fixing prices and price-related terms for broiler chicken products sold in the United States.”

The company also is accused of reaching agreements and understandings to submit aligned — but not necessarily identical — bids, prices and price-related terms, including discount levels, for broiler chickens.

Additionally, the indictment accuses Claxton of participating in conversations and communications relating to non-public information including bids, prices, and price-related terms for chickens "...with the shared understanding that the purpose of the conversations and communications was to rig bids, and to fix, maintain, stabilize, and raise prices and other price-related terms" for broiler chicken products.

Claxton also discussed protecting and acting to protect the conspiracy, according to the indictment. The conspiracy was in effect from at least as early as 2012 until at least 2019, according to the court documents.

“As this charge shows, we will not hesitate to prosecute crimes designed to put money in corporate coffers and line executives’ pockets at the expense of everyday Americans, including the hundreds of millions of us who rely on chicken to be an affordable staple food,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Richard A. Powers of the DOJ’s Antitrust Division. “Alongside our valued law enforcement partners and colleagues at the District of Colorado US Attorney’s Office, we will not stop until integrity is restored to this vital market and all wrongdoers are held to account.”

If convicted, the company faces a statutory maximum fine for corporations of $100 million which may be increased to twice the gain derived from the crime or twice the loss suffered by victims, if either of those amounts is greater than the statutory maximum fine, the DOJ said.

Electric cars: What will happen to all the dead batteries?

Electric cars: What will happen to all the dead batteries?

By 2030, the EU hopes that there will be 30 million electric cars on European roads.Get more news about Mf Car Battery, you can vist our website!

"It's something that's never really been done before at that rate of growth for a completely new product," says Dr Anderson, who is also the co-director of the Birmingham Centre for Strategic Elements and Critical Materials.

While electric vehicles (EVs) may not emit any carbon dioxide during their working lives, he's concerned about what happens when they run out of road - in particular what happens to the batteries.

"In 10 to 15 years when there are large numbers coming to the end of their life, it's going to be very important that we have a recycling industry," he points out.

While most EV components are much the same as those of conventional cars, the big difference is the battery. While traditional lead-acid batteries are widely recycled, the same can't be said for the lithium-ion versions used in electric cars.

EV batteries are larger and heavier than those in regular cars and are made up of several hundred individual lithium-ion cells, all of which need dismantling. They contain hazardous materials, and have an inconvenient tendency to explode if disassembled incorrectly.

"Currently, globally, it's very hard to get detailed figures for what percentage of lithium-ion batteries are recycled, but the value everyone quotes is about 5%," says Dr Anderson. "In some parts of the world it's considerably less."

Recent proposals from the European Union would see EV suppliers responsible for making sure that their products aren't simply dumped at the end of their life, and manufacturers are already starting to step up to the mark.

Nissan, for example, is now reusing old batteries from its Leaf cars in the automated guided vehicles that deliver parts to workers in its factories.Volkswagen is doing the same, but has also recently opened its first recycling plant, in Salzgitter, Germany, and plans to recycle up to 3,600 battery systems per year during the pilot phase.

"As a result of the recycling process, many different materials are recovered. As a first step we focus on cathode metals like cobalt, nickel, lithium and manganese," says Thomas Tiedje, head of planning for recycling at Volkswagen Group Components.

"Dismantled parts of the battery systems such as aluminium and copper are given into established recycling streams."

Renault, meanwhile, is now recycling all its electric car batteries - although as things stand, that only amounts to a couple of hundred a year. It does this through a consortium with French waste management company Veolia and Belgian chemical firm Solvay.

"We are aiming at being able to address 25% of the recycling market. We want to maintain this level of coverage, and of course this would cover by far the needs of Renault," says Jean-Philippe Hermine, Renault's VP for strategic environmental planning.
